Breglia – Monte Grona

The Monte Grona is a striking mountain (1736m) which overlooks Menaggio and the lake. Climbing to the summit is a challenging experience for walkers in this region. Starting from the village of Breglia (749m) you will follow the road going to the base of the mountain. From there you will walk along a narrow footpath which climbs to the ridge. The first part is quite steep, then it will be a lengthy but gradual uphill hike. The area of Monte Grona is extremely wild and inhabited by rare animals such as the golden eagle and the chamois. The view at the top of the Italian and Swiss Alps is absolutely fantastic.
